This policy explains what information the RIP Apps application (“the app”) uses, what for and where it stays. The short version: everything happens on your phone and nothing leaves it. The app has no Internet access permission, so it cannot send data anywhere. If you have any questions, write to spinolabss@gmail.com.

We don’t collect personal data
RIP Apps does not collect, transmit or share personal data. It has no servers, user accounts, analytics, advertising, crash reporting or third-party SDKs that do so. It doesn’t use the Internet permission (it is explicitly removed from the app), so it is technically impossible for it to send information off your device.
Under Google Play’s definition, information that is processed only on the device and never sent off it is not considered “collected”.
What the app reads on your device
To find the apps you don’t use, the app reads on your phone:
- The list of installed apps that appear in the launcher (name, icon, install date and category). System apps are not read.
- The last-used date of each app, through Android’s usage stats service. Only the date is used; the app doesn’t see what you do inside other apps.
- The space each app takes up (app and data), to show you how much you could free up.
From that it works out how long each app has gone unopened and shows it in the graveyard with its headstone and epitaph.
Where it is stored
In a local database inside the app itself. It stores the list of headstones (name, icon, dates, size and epitaph), your preferences (sorting, sound and alerts) and which apps you have buried and when.
Cloud backup is turned off for the app: this data is not uploaded to your Google account. If you uninstall the app, all of it is deleted. You can also delete it without uninstalling from Android Settings → Apps → RIP Apps → Storage → Clear storage.
Permissions the app requests
- Usage access (
PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): to know when you last used each app. Before asking for it, the app explains what it’s for; you grant or deny it in system settings and can revoke it whenever you like. The app can’t work without this permission. - Notifications (Android 13 or later): for the optional alerts (the weekly report, apps you never open and special dates). They are local alerts generated on your phone, and you can turn them off in the app’s or the system’s settings.
- Background tasks (run at startup and wake lock): used by the Android system component that schedules the periodic alert check. The app can also check whether there is a connection, because that system library does so, but it cannot use it.
The app does not ask for permission to uninstall apps: when you decide to bury one, it takes you to the system screen and you are the one who uninstalls it.
Sharing your graveyard
If you tap «Compartir mi cementerio» (Share my graveyard), the app creates an image on your phone with the names and icons of some of your dead apps and opens Android’s share menu. You choose who to share it with and how; the app doesn’t receive or keep a copy anywhere else. What happens to the image afterwards depends on the app you choose to send it with.
If you write to me
If you email me, I will use your data only to reply and will keep it for as long as the conversation lasts.
Your rights
Since the app sends us no data, we have no information of yours to look up, correct or delete: it is all on your device and under your control. For the data in an email you’ve sent me, you can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability by writing to spinolabss@gmail.com, and lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD).
Children
The app is not specifically aimed at children. In any case, it collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date on this page. If a future version of the app were ever to collect data, we would say so here before releasing it and let you know inside the app.
