This policy explains what information the A Juicio application (“Notifications on Trial” in English, “the app”) uses, what for and where it stays. The short version: everything happens on your phone and nothing leaves it. The app has no Internet access permission, so it cannot send data anywhere. If you have any questions, write to spinolabss@gmail.com.

We don’t collect personal data

A Juicio does not collect, transmit or share personal data. It has no servers, user accounts, analytics, advertising, crash reporting or third-party SDKs that do so. It doesn’t use the Internet permission (it is explicitly removed from the app), so it is technically impossible for it to send information off your device.

Under Google Play’s definition, information that is processed only on the device and never sent off it is not considered “collected”.

What the app records about each notification

To know which apps interrupt you, the app receives the notifications that reach your phone and records only their metadata:

  • Which app sent it (its package name).
  • When it arrived and, if you removed it, when and how (whether you opened or dismissed it).
  • The channel and category assigned by the app that sent it (for example, “message” or “promotion”).
  • An encrypted fingerprint (SHA-256) of the notification’s internal identifier, only while it is still in the status bar, to recognise it if it is updated. It is deleted when the notification is removed.

It never stores the title, text, images or senders of your notifications. When you grant the permission, Android warns that the app could read them all, because the permission is all-or-nothing, but the app discards that content without storing it.

From that data it works out, per app, how often it bothered you, how many times at night, how many in bursts and how many you ignored.

Where it is stored

In a local database inside the app itself. Besides the metadata above, it stores your sentences (which app, which sentence and since when, and how many alerts it has removed), the apps you have excluded and your preferences (language and retention period).

  • Metadata is deleted automatically after the period you choose in Settings (7, 30 or 90 days; 30 by default).
  • Backup is turned off for the app: this data is not uploaded to your Google account.
  • You can delete everything from App settings → Delete all data. If you uninstall the app, everything is deleted.

Permissions the app requests

  • Notification access (BIND_NOTIFICATION_LISTENER_SERVICE): to record notifications and, if you convict an app, remove its alerts. Before asking for it, the app explains what it’s for; you grant it in system settings and can revoke it whenever you like. The app can’t work without it.
  • Launcher app list: to show the name and icon of each defendant and to let you choose which apps to exclude. The app does not request the permission to see all installed apps.

Sentences

If you sentence an app to probation or perpetual silence, the app removes from the status bar any notifications over the limit. It does this on your phone, only for the apps you have convicted, and you can revoke the sentence whenever you like from the “Sentences” tab.

Sharing a sentence

If you tap “Share sentence”, the app creates an image on your phone with the name and icon of the app on trial, its figures and the verdict, and opens Android’s share menu. You choose who to share it with and how; the app doesn’t keep a copy anywhere else. What happens to the image afterwards depends on the app you choose to send it with.

If you write to me

If you email me, I will use your data only to reply and will keep it for as long as the conversation lasts.

Your rights

Since the app sends us no data, we have no information of yours to look up, correct or delete: it is all on your device and under your control. For the data in an email you’ve sent me, you can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability by writing to spinolabss@gmail.com, and lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD).

Children

The app is not specifically aimed at children. In any case, it collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date on this page. If a future version of the app were ever to collect data, we would say so here before releasing it and let you know inside the app.
